The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
